HEY YOU!

Yes, I’m speaking to you!

When was the last time you went through your makeup bag or have you even gone through your makeup bag EVER? How much ‘stuff’ have you crammed into that little bag thinking…

  • “Oh, I can REALLY use this (fill in the blank)!”

  • “You know what? I can always use a (fill in the blank.!”

  • “Matilda uses this! I’m going to see if it works for me!”

Let’s keep it real. If I had a dime for each time, I used one of those phrases, I wouldn’t be working full time and my Mary Kay business.

Even as a consultant, I have to remind myself to go through my makeup case (yes, case – please don’t judge me) and supply drawer every couple of months to make sure nothing has expired, toss out anything that doesn’t work and get rid of just awful products that you would even use on a rat!

Part of the process starts with de-cluttering. Make a list of “must-haves.” Then go through your bag, case, drawer or any storage really – where you keep your beauty supplies. Old makeup bushes, several tubes of mascara or foundation, or EMPTY bottles. Contrary to popular belief, nothing you need so bad will not magically reappear in that empty bottle so PLEASE toss it out.

The second part of this exercise is to figure out what has expired. If you can’t remember when you purchased it, likely it’s expired and need to be tossed. But here’s a little guide.

  • Cream Makeup: after 6 months to 1 year

  • Eye Shadow: powder – 2 years; cream – 6 months

  • Eyeliner: after 3 months (liquid); after 2 years (pencil)

  • Face Moisturizer: after 6 months (tub); after 1 year (pump)

  • Lipstick: after 1 year

  • Liquid Foundation: after 6 months to 1 year

  • Mascara: after 3 months

  • Nail Polish: after 1 year

  • Perfume: after 8 to 10 years

  • Powder Makeup: after 2 years

  • Sunscreen: after 1 year (most expirations are printed on the container)

Yes, this may be overwhelming but I’m here to help. Join me this Saturday, June 26, 2021 for Skinzational Saturday. We will “SHAKE UP YOUR MAKEUP BAG.”

I’ll also teach you basic makeup application techniques that will truly change your life.
